Support for parents and caregivers

Dyslexia Compass is Dyslexia Canada’s free peer-to-peer support program for parents and caregivers of children with dyslexia. At Dyslexia Compass, we understand that sometimes the best support comes from those who have experienced similar challenges. That's why our program connects you with a warm and understanding community, offering information and guidance through the process of identifying if your child has dyslexia, getting formal assessments, the IEP (Individual Education Plan) process and emotional support. Our peer-support team is here to assist you every step of the way on your journey.

To use our Dyslexia Compass program, you can fill out the registration form below. In order to ensure a smooth experience with Dyslexia Compass, please provide us with as much information as possible to connect you with the best Volunteer Supporter for your needs. Within one week, you will be matched with one of our team members that can offer email support as well as one-on-one meetings.

Process and expectations for parents and caregivers

  • Contact us if you suspect dyslexia or have a formal diagnosis. We are happy to answer all of your questions.

  • Once you have completed the registration form, be sure to check your junk mail folder for the connection email if you don’t see any communication from us within a week.

  • Although we strive to make connections within 48hrs, it may take up to a week to be matched with a Volunteer Supporter. Please be understanding of potential delays in correspondence, as our Volunteer Supporters may be in different time zones or have other commitments.

How Dyslexia Compass is making a difference

Getting my granddaughter involved with the help of your organization is going to make a real change in her life. My interactions with the Volunteer Supporter were quite valuable. We now have found a tutor and are moving on to other concerns. I certainly feel at liberty to get back to the Volunteer Supporter if necessary. Thank you.
